Journal 1
The vacation has just ended and the new semester has come. I wanted to share two movies I had watched in summer vacation.
The first movie I watched was the 9th episode of Fast and Furious, I believe everyone has heard of this movie. Although my evaluation of this movie was normal, this movie seemed to have long been out of the category of good or bad plot. Now everyone watched this movie mainly based on feelings and fan portraits. So I thought there was no need for a more comments. Fun was the whole thing!
Although the next movie was a horror movie, I thought it’s worth exploring. This movie named The Medium, It was also a very popular movie recently.
The film opens with documentary-like character cards and interviews with people, like a feature on National Geographic Channel, slowly leading audiences who are not familiar with this folklore into the scene. In the initial interview with the protagonist, Nim, the Bayan goddess, whom her family has believed in for generations, has always selected women as "talkers." After the previous generation of psychics abdicated, Nim’s sister, Noy, was supposed to inherit the power, but Noy refused to become a psychic and converted to Christianity, and Nim became a substitute. She was unwilling at first and cut her wrists several times to no avail. Finally, she compromised and adopted Bayan as her lifelong faith and became a local witch doctor.
The sharp turn in the second half of the movie, and the exorcism rituals and bloody massacres in the last 30 minutes, do not need to go through any jump scare to scare people away, because the story has no logic anymore. The audience is locked in a darkroom with the photographer from the first-person perspective. You don't know who will break in, and there is no rope to rely on.
This story makes the audience feel the sense of bumping and powerlessness, which is exactly its horror.I love the comment of this movie, ''When there was no way to go back, God left''
The above is the sharing of the two movies I watched in the summer vacation.
