I have seen another movie as well! It seems that I am watching movie every weekend, lmao. And I watch Incantation this weekend, which is the most popular horror movie recently in Taiwan.
Six years ago, the main characters—Li Ruo Nan and her friends boldly broke into the forbidden area of the cult ritual. They angered the sleeping evil spirits, and the curse spread in the world. And her boyfriend died suddenly on the spot, and the other members went crazy and died unexpectedly one after another. The only survivor was Ruo Nan, who did not enter the tunnel due to a foot injury.
Six years later, Ruo Nan’s daughter accidentally drew the symbol of the ceremony, and her teeth became deformed and blackened. It was all the evil spirits of the past! In order to save his daughter at all costs, Ruo Nan decides to risk her life to return to the forbidden land and find out the secret of the curse.
Ruo nan returns to the forbidden land and find out the secret of the curse. But She spread the curse through gestures to let more people know about it, and let more people share it with you to lighten your burden. In other words, the direct point is to pull more people to be buried with you.
With the development of the plot, we realized taht Ruo Nan was implying us from the very beginning, from the beginning of Ruo Nan's explanation of blessings to the audience. It plays a hinting role, and when we will naturally mutter the slogans over and over with Ruo Nan and others, and make gestures over and over again, it means that even if we say no matter what we say on the surface If you don’t believe it, we actually believe it in our hearts for a long time, just like Caroline in “Poison Key”. The process from unbelief to belief is very long, relying on intentional or unintentional hypnosis and suggestion.
Additionally, the concept of name is used as the key to seduction. The scream of "What's your name!" seems to be an extension of the elders' often admonition, "If there is a voice calling your name at night, don't respond."
What’s more, the slogan originally had the meaning of "Fortune and misfortune depend on each other, and life and death are destiny." Only after understanding it did people feel their scalp tingling, thinking that it was just a simple slogan, but it turned out to be the root of the cult.
All in all, this is my introduction and reflection to this movie.
